Ingredients:
- Rice - 1 cup
- Toor dal - 1/2 cup
- Onion - 2
- Vegetables - 1/2 cup (brinjal, beans, carrot, drum stick - anything of your choice)
- Tamarind pulp - 2 Tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Ghee - 2 Tbsp
- Oil - 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves
- Coriander leaves
For Masala Powder
- Bengal gram - 2 Tbsp
- Urad dal - 2 Tbsp
- Coriander seeds - 1 Tbsp
- Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Cinnamon - 1" piece
- Cardamom - 2
- Red chilly - 10 (or as required spice)
- Dry coconut - 2"piece
Preparation:
- Roast the ingredients for the masala powder with a tsp of oil and grind them to a coarse powder.
- In a pressure pan, half cook the toor dal along with turmeric powder. Add rice, onion, vegetables and add required water and half cook the rice.
- Now add the tamarind pulp and salt.
- After a boil add the masala powder and mix well by adding ghee till the rice comes to a semi liquid consistency.
- In a frying pan add oil and splutter mustard seeds and add curry leaves and coriander leaves and add this to the rice. Serve with ghee.
