I have a great passion for cooking and have tried many recipes. Thought could share them with all of you. Here are some simple recipes and tips and tricks. Lets start to enjoy cooking.
Let's start with a real South Indian recipe.
The most mouth watering breakfast of South India is Idlis.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Urad Dal
- 4 cups Idly Rice
- 2 tea-spoons Fenugreek seeds
- Salt to taste
- Soak urad dal and fenugreek seeds for 15 minutes.
- Soak Rice for 2 hours.
- Grind urad dal and rice separately to a thick paste. Rice should be ground little coarsely.
- Mix the pastes and salt to a batter consistency and set aside to ferment for 12 hours.
- Pour this batter in idly moulds and steam cook. Tasty idlis are ready.
Serve with Coconut Chutney and Sambar
Coconut Chutney
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of shredded coconut
- 3-4 green chillies
- Tamarind
- 1 sprig of curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- Grind all the items listed to a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and splutter few mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Add this to the ground mixture.
