Poornam Boorelu

Ingredients:

  • Green gram - 250 gm
  • Sugar - 400 gm
  • Grated coconut - 3 cups
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
  • Maida - 100 gm
  • Rice flour - 100 gm
  • Oil – to deep fry

Preparation:

  1. Soak the green gram (with out husk) over night.
  2. Cook it and smash it to a idli dough consistency and prepare idlis.
  3. Take the idlis out and cool them and break them.
  4. Take sugar syrup and mix grated coconut powder and cardamom powder and prepared green gram powder and make small balls.
  5. Mix both maida and rice flours, add water to make it to a batter consistency.
  6. Heat oil in a frying pan. Dip each ball in to the batter to make a thick coating.
  7. Deep fry the coated balls until they turn brown.
    Serve with ghee.
