Ingredients:
- Toor dal - 1 CUP
- Coriander seeds - 1Tbsp
- Bengal Gram - 2 Tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Tamarind pulp - 2 Tbsp
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Red chillies - 10
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Asafetida - 1/4 tsp
- Raw rice - 2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil
- Curry leaves
- Coriander leaves
- Cooked vegetables - 1/2 cup
Preparation:
- Cook toor dal with asafetida powder and turmeric powder.
- Heat a pan and add bengal gram, raw rice, red chillies, coriander seeds, curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds. Roast them and grind to a fine powder.
- Heat oil in pan, splutter mustard seed and add fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, coriander leaves and add the cooked dal and vegetable.
- Leave it a boil and add the tamarind pulp and salt. After the gravy thickens a bit, add the powdered masala and give it a boil. Don't over cook.
