Thovaran

Ingredients:

  • Plaintain - 1
  • Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Red chillies - 3
  • Garlic pods -2
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Onion - 1
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil

Preparation:

  1. Cut plaintain to cubes and cook it and drain the water.
  2. Grind coconut, cumin seeds, red chillies, turmeric powder and garlic to a coarse paste.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan and splutter mustard seeds, add curry leaves.
  4. Add onion and saute. Now add the cooked plaintain and sprinkle water and add salt.
  5. Add the ground paste and mix well and cook till the moisture evaporates.
