Ven Pongal

Ingredients:

  • Moong dal - 1/4 cup
  • Raw Rice - 1 cup
  • Ginger - 1/2 " piece
  • Crushed black pepper - 2 Tbsp
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Ghee - 4 Tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Cashews

Preparation:

  1. In a pressure pan, add moong dal and rice and add 5 cups of water. Add salt and cook with 2 tsp of ghee and 2 tsp of pepper and cumin seeds.
  2. In a frying pan, heat ghee and add chopped ginger, chopped green chillies and cashews.
  3. Add this to the rice. Add the crushed pepper and ghee and mix well. Serve with brinjal kotsu.
